Wines

Among the sandy lands dotted by the sea, the songs sung at sunrise mark the start of the grape harvest. Traditional men and women carefully select and cut the bunches of grapes, guaranteeing the quality of the product that arrives at our winery.

With a minimalist production style, the entire process is rigorously controlled to guarantee the varietal component of our grape varieties. Some of our wines are aged for a long time on fine lees to increase their complexity and personality, which distinguishes and elevates the quality of the Herdade da Comporta winery.

Herdade da Comporta wines are the result of our commitment to a modern and daring winemaking project, where state-of-the-art technologies project the traditionalism of the winemaking process in mechanised presses. Of recognised quality, our wines have been distinguished in international competitions.

Red
Our red grapes are harvested by hand and transported quickly to the mill. Upon arrival, the grapes are sorted bunch by bunch, destemmed and crushed.

We consider the flavour of each grape variety to be important, which is why the fermentation conditions are adjusted according to the variety. During fermentation, the lagares are reassembled to ensure greater extraction of the colouring matter present in the grape skins and tannins. Malolactic fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, ensuring greater microbiological control of the operation.

Once this process is complete, the ageing phase begins which, depending on the wine, will take place in stainless steel or French oak barrels, giving it structure and a unique character.

White
Our white grapes, planted on sandy soils with exceptional minerality, are harvested in the moonlight in order to preserve the temperature between picking and transport to our winery. Upon arrival, the grapes are sorted bunch by bunch and directly pressed in an inert atmosphere to prevent oxidation and preserve all the varietal flavours.

Rosé
Our rosés are characterised by their soft colour and exuberant freshness. The red grapes are harvested by hand at sunrise to preserve the temperature between picking and transport to our winery. As such, the entire production process is carried out according to white wine production technology and at low temperatures to ensure the least extraction of colour from the skins to the must during the maceration process.

After fermentation, they are aged in stainless steel tanks or in barrels on fine lees, producing complex and aromatic wines.

The Aragonês and Touriga Nacional varieties are the ones that best enhance the characteristics and sophistication that we want to present in our wines.
